After lurking around the Infidel Guy's web site ever since he appeared on that silly show Wife Swap and listening to the many fine audio shows available there I have decided to become a subscriber. Since I am a paying subscriber I figured I better get an avatar for my profile there. I decided to use this Jim Woodring drawing.

I never participated enough on a BBS or forum to feel the need to establish an avatar. Once in awhile I will post something, but usually someone jumps in with what I was going to say anyway. I never really felt part of a single forum community. I prefer to mine a particular forum for whatever information I am interested in at the time. That is one reason why I miss the universality of the old Usenet, where everyone was posting on every conceivable topic but in one place. Now if you want information that isn't readily available through Google, you might have to seek out some forum devoted to that particular topic. Usenet, now easily available through Google groups, is still useful but I think the expert information that people used to post there is now appearing in separate forums scattered throughout the net.

If you dig around in the old usenet archives in Google groups you can find some of my first first posts there. I'm pretty sure this is my first post about using the news reader software in my unix account at college. Here's another complaining about the Sci-fi channel's sound quality. Luckily there is nothing embarrassing. Unless watching the Sci-fi channel is?
