I started out strong. I even had a stranger come in and put some kind words in the comment section of my last post. But here I am already missing a day. There is only about an hour left before the next day begins, so I better get cracking or I'll miss another.

Although I have had my primitive little web page for over ten years now, I am still new to blogging so the daily writing habit has not established itself. It feels good though. I don't really expect many people to read this, and even my friends will probably only dip in intermittently. Besides e-mails I haven't really done much writing since college so feeling that slight pressure of responsibility to post daily provides some motivation.

It's a little tricky though to come up with topics to write about. I don't really want this to be a blog that is like a diary. If I did that I would even bore myself to death. So I will try to think of whatever topic comes to mind. Of course this is only my third post, so things will probably change over time.

Akashi Bridge I was going to write about a book I read recently. I still might do that tomorrow. However I found this cool picture on the internet somewhere. It's the Akashi Bridge which is in Japan. I lived pretty close to this bridge for two years in the town of the same name, Akashi. Actually the bridge is technically in Maiko city. The bridge connects the main island of Honshu to a smaller island called Awaji, and it's the longest suspension bridge in the world so far. In fact it's a few feet longer than originally planned because the Kobe earthquake widened the distance during its construction. Here is another picture from my photo section that I took from Awaji (the side opposite to this picture).

The main point of this post though, as indicated by the title, is that I don't know who took this picture. It was uploaded to some forum with no explanation. I would like to give credit to the photographer, but I can't. I doubt anyone who knows will ever find my blog to set me straight.

The other day while checking my web statistics I saw some hits from someone's blog. Curious I clicked on it, and found one of my photos displayed there. I added a comment to the blog, but there doesn't seem to be any response. I know people rip stuff off other sites all the time. I have done it plenty of times myself. I'm not saying you should go and ask permission for every single image, but at least give a link to the original source.

Today's interesting link is a post from Slashdot about liberals vs. libertarians.
